Donation Made For Fallen Deputy

Eyewitness News Reporter

Chattanooga (WRCB) - It has been nearly a month since Grundy County Sheriff's Deputy Shane Tate was killed while on duty. Today, a big announcement was made about a donation for the family of the fallen deputy.

Miller Family Foundation announced they will match up to $10,000 in donations. Chattanooga police officers and sheriff's deputies from Hamilton and Grundy Counties met at the Police Officer's Memorial to make the announcement and plead with the community to donate.

"It's the hardest thing [the Tate Family] have ever been through in their lives," said Grundy County Sheriff Brent Myers. "But the community has been there for them, and I know they will continue to be."

Deputy Tate leaves behind five children. A fund has been set up at First Tennessee Bank. You can make a donation at any branch between now and July 25.
